A discussion led by Canadian artist Catherine Richards and Canadian scientist Martin Snelgrove related to their patent application, “Method and Apparatus for Finding Love,” which was part of the Patent Pending exhibition at the ZERO1 Garage.

Catherine Richards
Catherine Richards is a visual new media artist who explores the volatile sense of ourselves as new information technologies shift our boundaries. Richards has received awards from the Canada Council and Daniel Langlois Foundation and is University Research Chair in the Department of Visual Arts at the University of Ottawa. Exhibitions include: Transito_MX (2013); Montreal Museum of Fine Arts (2007); V2_ (2006); ZKM (2005); the Sydney Biennale (2004); and The Banff Centre (2005, 1998).

Martin Snelgrove
Martin Snelgrove has a distinguished career spanning over 20 years of academic and technical accomplishments, most recently in advising technical teams in leading-edge developments of disruptive technologies. From 1998 to 2003, he was Chief Technology Officer,President and a Founder of SOMA Networks, Inc., a fixed wireless access equipment company. Selected other accomplishments for Martin include roles as the Chief Scientist with Philsar Electronics and the NSERC Industrial Research Chair with Carleton University. He has authored or co-authored over 100 journal and refereed conference papers. Martin has a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Toronto."
