ZERO1 is excited to share that Joel Slayton will be presenting at the symposium Transcending Borders: The Intersections of Arts, Science, Technology and Society on the Global Stage, organized by the National Endowment for the Arts, the Salzburg Global Seminar and the Embassy of Austria in Washington DC on June 4, 2012. It will be a captivating discussion between Slayton and Mauela Naveau, director of Ars Electronica, as they discuss creativity at the intersection of art, science, and technology and its impact on our future.

ZERO1 artist alum, Scott Kildall, is working on yet another amazing arts and technology project, Tweets in Space. Anyone with an Internet connection can participate during two performance events, which will simultaneously take place online, at the International Symposium on Electronic Art (ISEA2012, New Mexico), and in the stars. By engaging the millions of voices in the Twitterverse and dispatching them into the larger Universe, Tweets in Space activates a potent discussion about communication and life that traverses beyond our borders or understanding. 2012 ZERO1 Biennial Official Countdown Begins!

ZERO1 officially unveils the 2012 ZERO1 Biennial in New York City on May 2nd. With press previews this week in New York City followed by San Francisco next week on May 9th, ZERO1 is gearing up to execute one of its most exhilarating Biennials yet! (ZERO1 Biennial Press Previews are generously hosted by Boyd Level in New York and San Francisco Museum of Modern Art in San Francisco respectively.)

Furthermore, the ZERO1 Biennial website is now live! Stay tuned to find the latest news and happenings as the Biennial gradually takes shape.

Entitled Seeking Silicon Valley, the 2012 ZERO1 Biennial is a dynamic network of more than 100 exhibitions, performances, public art projects and panels that will spread from Silicon Valley throughout the Bay Area and beyond from September 12 through December 8.

A Puzzling Display“ is a new artist-created online arts and culture game, where registered participants compete and test their arts and culture knowledge. Inspired by the annual “puzzle hunts” hosted by institutions such as MIT and Microsoft, Silicon Valley digital artist Tim Roseborough has created “A Puzzling Display”: an Internet-based set of 20 intelligent and challenging interactive puzzles covering topics such as art history, music, film and culture.
