Call for Performers for Zorop at the 01SJ Biennial
Artists Ken Eklund and Annette Mees are looking for thirty actors & confident non-actors to be part of Zorop at the 01SJ Biennial on Friday 17th and Saturday 18th of September. The positions are paid.
ZOROP (2010) is on a mission to try to give World Peace a go at the 01 SJ Biennial. ZOROP (quixotically, perhaps) believes that World Peace is a meme that really just suffers from a visualization problem. In our research we encountered the beautiful idea that if everyone could see the attributes and experiences they share with others, world peace would follow. If people could see the connections, and how they weave our social fabric, would disagreement and conflict fade away? Don’t believe those who dismiss it as some sort of game...
The mission:
The role of the performers is to gently interact with the audience (as themselves, they don't have to be 'in character' – just to act within the narrative parameters). They encourage people who don't know each other to discover what they have in common and tell what it is. These connections are relayed to ZOROP Prime in South Hall, and so ZOROP grows an ever more complex visualization of the 01SJ Biennial and the affinities its visitors share.
It will be fun, you'll meet lots of interesting people, there is a Mexican party bus and maybe just maybe the small changes we make in the world will snowball & the realisation of world peace will surprise us all....
A briefing will be provided.
Performers are encouraged to wear neutral clothes. The costume will be provided and consists of one brightly coloured scarf each which they can wear how they please.
