Open Call for Watermans 2012 New Media Exhibition

Watermans, in West London, has announced an open call, which provides an opportunity to explore interactivity and participation in New Media and Digital Art. Through this year long project, Watermans aims to "initiate and enable a series of discussions around the meaning, possibilities and issues around human interaction and engagement in New Media art and bring in responses from artists, academics, students, art professionals and visitors in the UK and internationally."

OPEN CALL (Deadline February 10, 2011)

Artists and art collectives from all countries working with new media and digital technologies are invited to submit proposals of existing or new projects. Interested artists can propose to show more than one installation or projects and we will welcome applications from individuals, art collectives or collaborations between artists.

ZER01's Executive Director Joel Slayton was invited by CCA professor and media artist Jeanne C. Finely to participate in the Grad Fine Art Satellite Lecture series in conjunction with the LAND MINDS/SITE LINES graduate seminar.

Joel’s lecture surveyed 10 years of artistic practice with C5 Corporation<c5corp.com> focused social software, cooperation models and networks and information mapping. Title of the lecture was, “The Nature of Path/Minimal Dislocation” and was focused specifically on exploring how path making closely resembles an evolving conversation.  Joel spoke specifically about C5’s research and artistic practice related to emerging innovation models.

The Christensen Fund is looking for a new Program Associate

The Christensen Fund is looking for a new Program Associate.  The Christensen Fund (www.christensenfund.org) is a fifty-year old foundation in Northern California with a long history of funding locally and internationally the arts, environmental conservation, and education.  Since 2002, the foundation has focused its mission around biocultural diversity (the intersection of people, landscape, culture and ecology). Grant programs mostly support local initiatives and stewards in specific locations around the world, which have unique heritage and are likely to play an important role for sustaining diversity. Our regions these currently include the African Rift Valley from Ethiopia to Northern Kenya, Central Asia, Northern Australia, Melanesia, and the Greater Southwest (US Southwest and Northwest Mexico). Complementing grant making in the regions, Christensen seeks to build knowledge and practice worldwide around its mission focus through its Global Biocultural Initiative.

Learn how to apply for a Creative Capital Grant

It has been about two years since Creative Capital's last round of grants. They are back and Creative Capital is trying to help each applicant by hosting both online and in person information sessions to help answer application questions. Creative Capital's director of Artist Programs, Sean Elwood, will be hosting a grant info session next Saturday, January 29, at Yerba Buena from 4-6pm. If you can't make it next Saturday, check out their other in person sessions or online ones. Call for Submissions for Currents 2011

Santa Fe's 2nd Annual International New Media Art Event, Currents , is now accepting submissions for 2011. They have expanded their submission categories this year to not only include animation and video based new media, but also sound, gaming, and website development. Currents 2011 will take place at El Museo Cultural de Santa Fe from June 10th-19th. Check out their submission application and get them in before February 23rd. Also take a moment and look at what went on at Currents 2010.
