Don't wait, tickets are on sale now for the 53rd San Francisco International Film Festival. Beginning April 22nd the International Film Festival will host filmmakers from all over the world. Here is a taste of some of the expected guests to date:

Vimukthi Jayasundara, director, Between Two Worlds

2010 01SJ Media Sponsors

With each new Biennial the expectation is that we grow; we get better, have more resources and can ultimately achieve more.  That certainly seems to be the case this year; having an incredible team that includes staff, interns, volunteers and consultants - makes all the difference in the world.  Not that previous teams weren't amazing as well, but experience has given us an edge this year.  To wit, our media sponsorships.  To date they include:

A lovely logo soup if ever there was one.

2010 FutureEverything Festival

Barely one month away, the highly anticipated FutureEverything Festival will take place May 12 - 15 2010. This year's theme is "The City Experiment, Doing it Together." Described as: "Cities can be seen as laboratories, as test beds, as accelerators. The festival will highlight urban transformation, when we see the world in different ways, when we experiment with the ways we work, play, create and relate with one another. Manchester has long been seen as a city of experimentation. Today it is home to Europe's biggest experiment in creating a future city, with major initiatives including MediaCityUK, Corridor Manchester and the Sharp Project." It should be an amazing three days of Art, Music, Showcases and much more.

Tickets are already on sale! Discounted Early Bird tickets end tomorrow. If you are going to be in Manchester around May 12th, don't miss this years Festival! Tickets

01SJ Artists to speak at Leonardo LASER events

Starting last month, one 01SJ Biennial artist will be featured as a speaker in the monthly LASER (Leonardo Art Science Evening Rendezvous) series, organized by Leonardo ISAST. The series, which is currently chaired by piero scaruffi, is a really interesting  local forum for presenting art and science projects underway in the Bay Area that are creative, original and interdisciplinary in nature. Each evening, free of charge and open to the public, presents up to four artists, scientists, philosophers, historians, inventors and scholars.

Tonight's LASER begins at 7pm at the  SETI Institute (515 N. Whisman Road, Mountain View, California) and includes a presentation by 01SJ 'San Jose Urban Game' artist Ken Eklund where he will be talking about ZOROP, an urban game he is creating with Annette Mees that was commissioned by ZER01 for the 2010 01SJ Biennial.

2010 Guggenheim Fellows at the 2010 01SJ Biennial

ZER01 would like to congratulate two amazing recipients of the distinguished Guggenheim Fellowships for 2010, Amy Franceschini and Monica Haller.

We are extremely happy for them and excited that both Franceschini and Haller will be in the 2010 01SJ Biennial!

This fellowship is known for being given to those "who have demonstrated exceptional capacity for productive scholarship or exceptional creative ability in the arts." Amy Franceschini received the fellowship within the Fine Art category and Monica within Photography. What an amazing honor and well deserved for both artists.

Congratulations Amy and Monica!!!

Here are the details about the Call for Proposals: Good Luck!

*Proposed pieces should be contemporary art installations that communicate or demonstrate a scientific principle in creative, new ways. For more information please see the full requests on website: http://www.theleonardo.org/contact_us/jobs_and_volunteering/
